On our way to the airport on the morning we left Helsinki, we spotted a frozen waterfall standing about eight feet high, and a decent snowman stood outside the airport's Terminal One. All fields everywhere were white with snow, and the sun shone just as brightly. Back at Heathrow, no snow, and the rain just fell - typical England! By the time we were driving through Wales en route to Aberystwyth, a starry night followed us home. I didn't think I'd seen such a clear, starry night in the UK before. And I was surprised to see the saucepan here in the northern sky. But here, its 'handle' points downward, not upward like in the southern night sky. Tom called it 'the plough'.
Between now and 27 February, I may write a couple of blog posts. We'll see. After that time, there should be loads more happening....
We landed at Heathrow at 3pm. It was 5 to 6 when we finally drove off in our hire car, this Volvo XC60, from the Sheraton Skyline in Hayes, near Heathrow.
