Today, we visited two places of note in Wales, namely Portmeirion and Caernarfon Castle.
Portmeirion, which is in the north, not far from Porthmadog, is a resort village built in the style of an Italian village. It was constructed around the middle of the last century by a Welsh millionaire called Clough Williams-Ellis. We had lunch here, admired the architecture, and Jess took some selfies. It was very cold while we were there - the surface of a pool was frozen, and Jess and Sam had fun breaking the ice. At least the sun shone today - all day!
We drove through Pwllheli, by the sea. Jean had hoped to get a stick of rock here, since it's the place where 'rock' (hard boiled lolly) is famous, but the rock shop we spotted was closed. On we drove to Caernarfon Castle. Jess, Sam and I ventured in. It was nearly closed, but we were permitted to enter briefly.
