On the train to Turku

We didn't have much time last night to do anything except make our way to our hotel, the Hotel Anna, about a five minute taxi journey from the main railway station.  During the flight from Heathrow, we learned from the in-flight magazine that a Finnair City Bus takes passengers every 20 minutes from Terminal 2 to the Helsinki railway station.  It's always a good idea to study in-flight magazines about cities you're arriving in to get good advice.

We landed at Helsinki Airport early - around 8.30 pm, local time.  We found the bus stop outside the terminal and waited.  At first, we thought it wasn't too cold.  But we changed our minds when we stood still for a moment.  The roads were clear of snow, but nearby footpaths were coved in it.  When the bus arrived, and took us to town, piles of dirty snow lined the footpaths.  After we'd checked into our hotel, we were starving, and grabbed Thai food around the corner, one of the few places still open in the area.

We have just departed Helsinki, bound for Turku on an inter-city train.

Near our hotel
The Hotel Anna is up the street - note the pile of snow.
Our train waits to depart Helsinki.
The track ahead
