Cruising to Miami

It's Friday the 13th today, very different to the Friday the 13th we observed last month.  Then, we were in icy cold Finland visiting my relative, Ilkka.  Today, by way of contrast, we left the Caribbean and entered the Atlantic Ocean, on course for Miami where we will arrive the morning after tomorrow.

Conscious that our cruise is nearing its end, we now try to make the most of every moment.  That doesn't mean we spent our first sea day in a week busily cramming in activity, though.  We just took it easy.  Jean spent time in the casino, I watched briefly a putting competition on the lawn, and relaxed near the pool reading my book.  Meantime, with almost a heavy heart, we're considering the need to pack our bags and be ready for disembarkation.

The main event of today was our tour of the Bridge.

The Bridge spans the width of Deck 10 plus more (it protrudes out on both sides of the ship).
A crew member gave us facts about the Celebrity Eclipse, such as how the ship is manoeuvred into port.  Here, he displays pictures of the ship's stabilisers.

In the protruding part of the Bridge, this small section of glass-bottom floor assists accurate manoeuvring into port.
Some of the ship's instruments.  The ship was built in Papenburg, Germany.  The technology comes from Finland, where we visited last month.
