Running around central London

After breakfasting at Victoria, we caught the tube to Leicester Square.  We bought a London Pass, and were persuaded to also buy an all-day Golden Tours bus pass, valid for two days, which will provide historical commentary on the tourist attractions covered by the London Pass.

We hit Piccadilly Circus, and ventured into Regent Street, stopping at Hamleys toy store.  Inside were toys galore - fluffy toys, games, jigsaw puzzles, as well as flying things like drones and UFOs.  We got to Oxford Circus, turned into Oxford Street, and inspected the various stores along the way.  We lunched in the Duke of York pub, and were lucky to have finished eating when Jean saw a mouse on the floor.  Of course, at that point, we had to leave.

We caught a bus to Harrods, and the kids enjoyed looking inside.  There's a section in Harrods made to look like you're in Egypt, with hieroglyphic inscriptions and images of pharoahs.  It reminded me of the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas.  Nearby, many quality chocolates were on display.  We bought some for a treat.  I chose a 'millionaire shortbread'.  We then caught a bus to Kensington High Street, another bus to Piccadilly, and proceeded on foot to Carnaby Street.  By now, it was getting dark, so we caught a number 38 bus to Victoria, dined in the Shakespeare pub, and headed home to our hotel.

We stopped briefly at the M&Ms chocolate shop.
