An afternoon stroll in the heart of London

Sophie stayed in the hotel with Harvey while the rest of us went for a walk.  From our hotel in Pimlico, we headed in the direction of Victoria Station and then on to Buckingham Palace.  From there, we detoured into Green Park and then down Piccadilly.

We stopped off in Fortnum and Masons, a famous department store where we examined all sorts of goods, the finest chocolates, the best alcohol, and other wares. F & M is famous for its candles, its original 18th century product.

I gave Sam a good ear-bashing, all along the way, telling him the history of various things we saw.  I pointed out especially how low in the sky the sun was at 2.30 in the afternoon, it being, of course, the middle of winter.  That we saw the sun at all was excellent, it had been shining virtually all day.

We had a cup of tea nearby, and then walked all the way back to the hotel, now in the dark.

Buckingham Palace: the royal standard was flying, indicating the Queen is in residence.

We followed almost the same route back.
